Bridg’it!, a productive and stimulating workshop
I was part of the Edinburgh group that participated in the 2nd International workshop ‘Sociology of food’: Bridg’it!
Over an enjoyable and stimulating two days we shared our current research on topics that included food for asylum seekers, changing eating patterns in Trinidad, and how the poor understand nutritional guidelines. PhD researchers from SOLAL and FRIED also presented their work.
Our discussions have given me a much better idea of the richness of the research we conduct as a group – both in terms of the variety of topics we cover, and the innovative methods we use to study them.
We thank SOLAL and CNRS for their fine hospitality. Next year – despite Brexit! – FRIED hopes build on these links by hosting the next of these workshops in Edinburgh.
